Third Sunday of Advent – December 14, 2014

Rejoice! Jesus came to give sight to the blind and life to the dead. Christ’s reign is among us through our deed of love and generosity. Let us not grow weary, but steady our hearts and rejoice, for the Lord is close at hand!

“Yesterday is gone, Tomorrow has not yet come.  We have only today.  Let us begin.” Blessed Mother Teresa

An Advent Reflection
By: Margaret McCarthy

As Blessed Mother Teresa tells us “Let us Begin Today to Prepare for the Birth of Christ.   How can we do this:  This week apply the words of the second reading 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 “Rejoice always, (choose to be happy despite the chaos of Christmas preparations)  pray without ceasing, (have an attitude that is open to encountering Christ at work, school, shopping, in others that you encounter) and give thanks in all circumstances (be grateful for the simple things of life, freedom of religion, food, shelter, others – decide this week to show your gratitude and appreciation).

Finally, we can heed the words of John’s Gospel “Make straight the way of the Lord.”  In the final two weeks of preparation decide to attend a penitential service, invite Christ to dwell in your hearts and ask the Holy Spirit to help you to prepare.
